I have a problem and it's one I haven't encountered before. But first some background. I've been writing stories since the last century, I've sold 45 short stories and published a dozen novels. Several years ago, I started writing non-fiction and wrote books on fiction writing, self-publishing and book marketing.
When I finished my fiction book,'Talking Shadows', a few months ago, I had another idea for a book but when I started, I, like you avoided writing it everytime I sat to write. I did a self inspection and realized that I was in morning. The characters that lived in my head for years had died and I felt the loss. I continued to write anyway, but what I was writing wasn't felt. Characters had no voice. But little by little I used my imagination and visulized myself again in the setting and myself as them. My new story is coming alive. The loss and sadness for your story will pass. You will get that thrill and excitement that you feel when you start creating again, I am sure. John Piccoli
