I've been busy and that's why I haven't written an article in over two months. Here's what I've been up to.
I started a new Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@CreatingANovel-n9i
The three latest videos are:
Book blurbs
Character arcs
Strategic marketing plans
Since I'm endlessly curious, I started looking into Artificial Intelligence early in the year. After playing around with various AI apps, I found myself asking if AI could be used to help writers and authors. More digging led to me writing and publishing my four short Beginner's Guides each of which explores how AI can be used for specific tasks.
Beginner's Guide to Creating Genuine Characters
Beginner's Guide to Developing a Plot
Beginner's Guide to Publishing a Book
Beginner's Guide to Basic Book Marketing
All these guides are available on Amazon.
After the completion of the Guides, I began a project to create three lectures on how writers and authors can utilize AI. The series title is Harvesting AI:
Part 1: For Writers
Part 2: Self-publishing
Part 3: Book Marketing
All of these will be presented at Zoom meetings in the near future and then they'll become Youtube videos.
While working on these slide presentations, I began incorporating the ideas into new book with the working title: The Writer’s and Author’s Guide to Using Artificial Intelligence. My current schedule calls for the lectures and the book to become available in the first part of 2025.
As you can see, I've invested a great deal of time and energy on Artificial Intelligence. As a result of my work I really believe AI can be a useful tool that can be deployed to make our jobs a bit simpler. The implication here is that using AI will allow writers and authors to spend more time on creative activities instead of on the dog work. Another implication here is that these AI activities do not replace the creative work, they just proved more time for it.
Finally, I keep having this nagging thought that I should create a single whiteboard that explains AI to writers and authors. This won't be easy, but I do love a good challenge.
What do you think of AI?

Hi Hank! I’ve been exploring AI too and discovering all kinds of new ways to make use of it. I look forward to seeing what you put together and the presentations.
